About the Book

About The Book

This Industrial Engineering Book serves two main purposes, firstly it gives an exposure to the activities of industrial engineering, and secondly, it introduces new approaches that are necessary for bringing developing nations on par with industrialized nations. Techniques of industrial engineering have made quantum leaps in advanced countries in the last two decades. The common belief is that industrial engineering is a common sense approach towards production problems. This is true to a certain extent, but development in tools and the approaches to tackle issues are equally important and were developed over time. This Industrial Engineering book provides the information and procedures applicable in technical and non-technical situations.

This book will be beneficial to the following groups: Senior engineering students seeking degrees in mechanical, production, electrical and electronic engineering. Students seeking advanced degrees in business and industrial management. Engineering practitioners in production and services industries. Educators in need of a standard curriculum to instill excellency in students. Senior managers and entrepreneurs who are required to make intelligent and informed decisions. This Industrial Engineering book incorporates unique illustrations, figures and charts for quick and easy understanding of the subject. Exercises are provided at the end of the chapters, to further reinforce the points discussed in at particular chapter. Solutions to exercises at the end of the chapter in this Industrial Engineering book is available on disk for the instructors using this book for a course.
